New rules for Short-Term Rentals (STRs) will come into effect on 30 September 2024. The Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing has announced the fees and registration process for 2024-25.

In March, 2023-24 registrations were extended to September 2024. All short-term rentals and tourist accommodations planning to operate beyond 30 September 2024 must obtain a 2024-25 registration number. 

Regulations under the Short-term Rentals Registration Act include new registration requirements, host categories, rates and penalties.
