Physicians Community Navigator News
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for our Physician Community Navigator, Breanna Hall.
The past two weeks were Rural weeks, where weekly events were organized by Nova Scotia Health, Doctors Nova Scotia, and Physician Community Navigators. This year some of the activities were a walk at Miners Marsh, exploring the protected bird sanctuary, and a pizza/games night at the new Annapolis Valley family medicine training facility in Kentville. The purpose of Rural Week is for first-year Dalhousie University Medicine students to visit rural communities across the province to see firsthand what practicing rural medicine is all about. This year 26 Med students attended Rural week 1, May 16-20th, and week 2, May 24 – 27th. Breanna had a lovely time and enjoyed meeting the students, chatting about their interests outside of medicine – the Annapolis Valley had everything they were looking for!
We would like to thank Boston Pizza, Doctors Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Health, and Stacy De’Vries at Royal Lepage for sponsoring Rural Week 2022!
In addition to Rural Week –
Q2 Family Physician Appreciation Check-In and road trip took place. Doctors Nova Scotia Representatives Jen Girard and Noelle Moulaison and Annapolis Valley Medical Learner & Physician Advisor Amanda Smith, joined Physician Community Navigator Breanna Hall as she traveled throughout the Annapolis Valley visiting family medicine practices and clinics during the PCN Q2 Physician Appreciation road trip. They talked with physicians and staff shared support and resources, showing appreciation with local coffee and cupcakes by Buttercream Bliss.
Thank you to Doctors Nova Scotia for supplying the delicious coffee!
Valley Business Hub: Open House
May 25th was the Valley Business Hub’s open house!
We had a fantastic time celebrating all three organizations, The Valley Regional Enterprise Network, Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce, and CBDC Hants-Kings joining forces in one co-space. The opportunities for collaboration and support for local businesses are just beginning and we can’t wait to see our local business community utilize the new shared space.
In case you missed it, we had a variety of lovely snacks from various businesses across the region, representatives spoke about each organization, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, finishing up with a networking portion.
The Valley Business Hub also announced they have a rentable workspace. You can rent one of the five working pods, the boardroom, or both. We can’t wait to have you in the new space!
Follow along and be a part of our journey continuing to develop the Valley Business Hub by following our social media, linked below.
