Cheers to HERE! 🥂

2026 Annapolis Valley Business Awards

Thursday, November 5, 2026 | 6:00–10 PM
Devour! Studios | Wolfville, Nova Scotia

Cheers to the dreamers, the doers, the risk-takers, and the difference-makers. Cheers to HERE!

There’s something extraordinary about the Annapolis Valley. From our rolling vineyards and fertile orchards to the dramatic tides of the Bay of Fundy, we’re surrounded by natural beauty at every turn. But what makes this region truly remarkable? The people who call it home.

Join the Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce for an unforgettable evening celebrating the businesses, bold ideas, and incredible people whose passion, determination, and community spirit are every bit as remarkable as the place we’re lucky enough to call home.

From familiar faces to fresh connections, from small beginnings to remarkable achievements, this is our night to raise a glass to the people and businesses who make it all happen.

Come dressed in your Valley Cocktail best, ready for great food, great company, a little sparkle, and plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Your Evening Includes

  • A welcoming cocktail reception, sponsored by BMO, featuring a complimentary drink ticket and plenty of opportunities to mix, mingle, and connect

  • A delicious three-course plated dinner celebrating locally sourced flavours

HR Resources for Small Business

Date: September 24 – November 26
Time: Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: Valley Business Hub, 448 Main Street, Kentville
Training: 40 Hours
Instructor: Rick McMullen

You started a business. Then suddenly you became HR.

Learning Outcomes

Participants should leave with practical tools and greater confidence to hire well, onboard effectively, manage performance fairly, document appropriately, address problems earlier and build stronger workplaces.

Great fit for

Small business owners, managers, supervisors, administrators and anyone who has responsibility for hiring or managing employees without a dedicated HR department.

Program Content

This program tackles the people-management responsibilities that often land on small business owners and managers without an HR department or formal HR training.

The course covers the employee journey from beginning to end: determining staffing needs, job descriptions and postings, recruitment, interviewing and selection, onboarding, personnel files, workplace policies and procedures, training and development, performance goals and appraisals, compensation and rewards, progressive discipline, termination and exit interviews.

It also digs into the harder human side of management: motivation, management and leadership styles, conflict resolution, employee problems, difficult conversations and creating an employee-friendly workplace where good people actually want to stay.

Succession planning, skill succession and business succession are also included.

Please contact jen@annapolisvalleychamber.ca with any questions.

These programs are offered at no cost to the participant as they are fully funded by the Nova Scotia government under the Workplace Education Initiative.
